QuickScore Elite Level II Description:

The powerful yet affordable music composition software for Microsoft Windows

Electronic Musician 1998 Editors' Choice for music notation software. Top Ten Reviews Gold Award 2005, 2006, 2007

QuickScore Elite is comprehensive, integrated software for music composition, incorporating notation, arranging, MIDI and audio sequencing and recording. Create publication-quality scores, musical content for the desktop and world wide web, audio CDs, MP3s and soundtracks for film, video and games.

QuickScore Elite Level II is Sion Software's premier software for composing music - a powerful and integrated 48-track scoring, audio and sequencing program together in one package. This is the program that Electronic Magazine awarded their 1998 Editors' Choice for notation software upon its debut and has won the Top Ten Reviews Gold Award for the past three years running.

Start faster right off the top with one of QuickScore's score templates. You've got Piano, Piano and Solo Instrument, Organ, Choir, Band, Orchestra and a bunch more. And if you need something you don't see, just set it up yourself and it's there for you to use from then on.

You'll find yourself quickly entering music using the mouse or playing music using the built-in virtual keyboard or your MIDI keyboard, guitar controller or other input device. With a microphone attached to your computer you can even sing into QuickScore! Record and enter .WAV digital audio files, and even extract notes from .WAV files. Automatically generate accompaniments, harmony, chord names or guitar chords with a few mouse clicks. Add volume, pan or any other controllers in real time using the built-in mixer. Or simply open any MIDI, MusicXML, NIFF or Guido file without worrying which scanning program, sequencer or notation program created it.

Edit your music using your choice of Score, Piano Roll, Audio, Controller, Event List or Song Editors - all included and all fully integrated. Once you understand one editor, you automatically understand the others. And now you can edit your audio data down to the individual sample with the included QuickAudio audio editor.

Use VST plugins to extend QuickScore's functionality in ways you never thought possible. You can load new virtual software synthesizers, drum kits and orchestral sounds not available on your sound card, and manipulate them in unbelievable ways. You can edit and morph your audio, and generate new MIDI or audio material to go with music you've already entered.

Of course you can play your music using any sound card or MIDI interface that you've got on your Windows PC.

And when you're done, print publication-quality scores using any Windows-compatible printer, export your scores to word processing, graphics or publishing software in vector or bitmap format, publish to the desktop or world wide web as PDF or JPEG, and create audio CDs, Wave and MP3 files and music soundtracks which you can incorporate into digital films, videos and games.

If you're looking for the heart of this software, you'll find it in the Score Editor. Unlike a lot of sequencers, we don't stop once the notes are down. You've got a complete set of clefs, including five-line and single-line drum clefs. Drop in a clef anywhere on a staff and the music automatically reformats to reflect the change. Same thing for time signature and key signature changes. There's a full compliment of musical symbols, including grace notes, slurs, chord names, guitar grids, figured bass symbols, and hundreds of others. You've got up to four verses of lyrics that automatically center under their notes as you enter them, as well as eight different kinds of resizable block text, which you can put anywhere you want on the page. You can adjust the vertical spacing between staves to make room for extra lyrics, unusually low or high notes or instructions to performers, and you can change the spacing of notes by moving individual notes without affecting their timing, by choosing to use engraver spacing, or by having QuickScore do the job of spacing for you. You choose the average number of notes you'd like to see on a line and QuickScore does the rest, adjusting the number of bars per line and the width of each bar, on a bar-by-bar basis, based on the density of the music, for the bars that you specify or for your entire piece! With a few mouse clicks you set up the layout of braces and bracketing for each system. Same thing for drum notation. You set up the note head and staff position for each pitch and your drum tracks automatically notate the way you want them. And, of course, we let you put multiple independent voices on the same staff.

Cross-staff beaming? No problem. Adjustable split point in split tracks? QuickScore lets you put notes on the upper or lower staff of a split track regardless of whether the pitch is above or below middle C.

With QuickScore Elite Level II, you can quickly and easily produce 6, 5 and 4-string tablature notation with adjustable string tuning for guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, bouzouki, pipa, and other fretted instruments. Adjust the tuning and the fret numbers are adjusted automatically! Move and edit fret numbers with the same tools you use to edit any other notes or objects.

Add your own custom symbols and note heads. Put in graphics and scale, cut, copy, paste and move them like any other symbol.

You can tell that QuickScore was designed with composers in mind by the little things. Like letting you proof your tracks for notes out of the range of the instruments for which you're writing. And automatic playback of repeats and first and second endings. Things like generating chords and guitar grids automatically from the notes you've already got in your tracks. When you've finished putting in the notes for your song, choose Generate Chords and it's all done for you. And of course you have control of the the playback of your chords and guitar grids. Or generate a complete accompaniment with appropriate instruments in any style ranging from Blues to Reggae to a Classical Guitar Quartet. All done in a few mouse clicks.

You're going to have to get your hands on the software to see all the stuff that's there. Believe me, it's a lot more than there's room to put down here. Give us a call at 604-222-2454 for more information or to order your copy.

QuickScore Elite Level II 2008 new features
Generate complete accompaniments with a few mouse clicks from melodies or chord progressions. Enter any graphic symbols you can create and use them as custom symbols or even as custom note heads. Create 4 and 5 string tablature for instruments like banjo, ukulele, mandolin, bouzouki and pipa. You'll also find a wealth of new symbols, including a complete set of guitar symbols, new harp symbols, including harp pedal diagrams, and new woodwind, organ and jazz symbols. And that's just for starters.

Generate Accompaniments
Now generate complete accompaniments from chords, tablature chords or notes in your tracks. Choose from a variety of styles, from baroque to reggae, or even create your own.

Create 4 and 5 String Tablature and Chords
Create tablature and chords for any 4 or 5 string instrument, including 4 and 5 string bass, 4 and 5-string banjo, ukelule, mandolin, bouzouki and pipa. Of course all 4 and 5 string tablature and chords play correctly according to the tuning you choose.

New Guitar Symbols
There is a complete set of new guitar symbols. They can be found in the new Guitar symbols palette and in the Adjustable symbols palette.

New Harp Symbols
There are new harp symbols in the Miscellaneous and Adjustable symbols palettes.

New Woodwind Symbols
There are new woodwind tonguing symbols in the Marks symbols palette.

New Organ Symbols
There are new organ heel and toe symbols.

New Jazz Symbols
There are new jazz symbols (doit, diagonal lines) in the new Jazz symbols palette.

Import Graphics
Now you can import and place any bitmap file. Take bitmaps from anywhere you find them - even use exported music from QuickScore or Copyist to create ossia measures.

Create Custom Symbols
You can create up to 80 custom symbols from bitmap files and incorporate them into a composition. Select them from any of your bitmap files, or create them from scratch, scale them to the size you want and then simply enter them from the Symbols Palette.

Create Custom Noteheads
Create up to 8 custom noteheads from bitmap files and use them any time you need them. Select them from any of your bitmap files or create them from scratch. They're automatically available from the Edit menu when you want to change note heads.

New Note Heads for Entry of 7 Shape Note System
Attention shape note singers! In addition to the 8 custom note heads, we've added two new note heads that are always available to complete the 7 shape note system.

Show Muted Tablature Notes
Now it is possible to automatically display muted or slapped notes in tablature staves with an X.

Put Notes in Parentheses
Notes, guitar fret numbers and muted or slapped notes notated with x marks can be within parentheses, brackets or carets.

Speed Up Entry of Notes and Symbols
Now you can select different guitar symbols using the left and right arrows as you enter them with pen tool.

Selected slurs, circled numbers, guitar fingers and numbers in parentheses can now be changed directly from the edit menu.

Change note durations with the left and right arrow keys while entering with the arrow tool or using step entry in the Score and Piano Roll editors. Use shift left and right arrow keys to change the dotted value. This allows you to enter notes without moving your mouse to the durations palette at all.

Now you can keep the Symbol palettes open after selecting a symbol. This is useful when you need to enter many different symbols at the same time.

Display Notes Without Stems or Beams
Stem direction can be set to neither, to display notes without stems or beams. This is available in the Display Bar, Display Track and Display Score dialogs.

Use the Mouse Wheel in all Windows
The mouse wheel works in all windows to scroll the display.

Cut and Paste Text in Edit Boxes
Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V can be used to cut and paste text in edit boxes.

Control The Display of Tied Notes
QuickScore automatically generates tied notes for you if necessary. Usually you get exactly what you want. But if you want something out of the ordinary, now you can make sure that you get it no matter how complicated a tied note structure you need. Choose two or more notes of the same pitch immediately following each other and select Tie -> Explicit from the Edit menu. Presto! the notes are automatically tied together.

Enter Dotted Slurs
New dotted slurs are available from the Adjustable Symbols Palette..

Control Active Sensing
There is a new option to pass thru Active Sensing in the MIDI Thru dialog, available from the Options dialog. This is off by default. Active sensing is sent by many keyboards to let a host know if it is attached or not. But passing through this message to a sound module often doesn't make sense.
